-Alright, well..USA plays Algeria. U S A

-Slovenia vs England. Go Slovenia. Knock dem Brits out of there.

-Australia vs Slovakia. Can I get a Aussie Aussie Aussie oye oye oye? What does that mean?

-Ghana plays Germany. GO GHANA.

The Wimbledon continues tomorrow. Is anyone going to wake up at 6?

-Besides that, nothing is really going on except the NBA Draft is on thursday.

-Oh, and the College World Series  is going on, however nobody really cares because of the World Cup.

-Finally, I would like to propose a celebration to Moldavia. It is their independence day today.

Traditional Tuesday Picks

June 23, 2010

Must have gotten some pretty lucky picks last week…

I did pretty well this week in my Traditional Tuesday Picks.  I got 3 out of 5 picks correct this week. I picked that the Lakers would win game 6 and the Brian Scalabrine would not score a point.  I was correct on those and that Tiger Woods would finish in the top 5 of the U.S. Open.  Also, the West Indies beat South Africa in the HUGE HUGE Cricket match.

– I think that USA will beat Algeria tomorrow in the big match in the pitch in South Africa.

– I believe that England and Slovenia will tie tomorrow leaving England out of the round of 16 and the USA in 1st place in the group.

– I think that the Red Sox will beat the Rockies tonight by at least 2 runs.

– By next week Nadal, Federer, and Serena Williams will still be alive in Wimbeldon.

– Clemson will beat Oklahoma to advance to the College World Series.

For the random pick of the week…

– Jozy Altidore’s stomach bug will not turn into a rapid growing virus or fungus.

– The lottery picks shown above will not win anything considering they are not real.

Graeme McDowell’s Monday Notes

June 22, 2010

Graeme McDowell won the U.S. Open yesterday by one shot over Gregory Havret.  I had never heard of Havret until Saturday, so I kinda wanted him to win. He finished +1 with McDowell at even.  Tiger dropped off a lot on the final day shooting a 75. He finished in a tie for 4th place at +3 for the tournament.

– Roger Federer was taken into 5 sets today by Alejandro Falla but finally won in the first round of Wimbledon today.  Who got up at 6 o’clock to see it this morning?

– The North Koreans got flat out destroyed today in the World Cup 7-0 by Portugal.  Scoring 7 goals in soccer is like scoring 150 points in basketball, and to win by 7 in soccer would be like winning by 70 in basketball.  The North Koreans just flat out used their “weapons of mass destruction” against themselves today instead of sending them over the South Korean border.  In somewhat similar news today is U Yeong Choi’s last day in America. All of us here at RD give him a big farewell.

John Wall is on the front page of ESPN.com, just throwing that out there.

– Chile beat Switzerland today 1-0.

– Spain defeated the fighting Hondurans 2-0 after David VILLA’s two goals.  Just saying it like how the announcer said it.

– Steve Smith of the Panthers, not of the Giants, (good Steve Smith, there’s like four int he NFL) broke his arm in a flag football game over the weekend.  Thought you weren’t supposed to tackle in flag football…

– Clemson beat the #1 ranked Arizona State baseball team today in the College World Series.

The World Cup

June 20, 2010

We are still in group stage. However, we at RD would just like to update you what has happened this whole World Cup.

Group A: Uraguay, Mexico, France, South Africa. Uraguay and Mexico have 4 points and France and South Africa both have 1. Mexico plays Uraguay and France plays South Africa. Whoever wins, Mexico vs Uraguay will advance to the next round. Also, whoever wins, South Africa vs France might be able to advance based on goals scored but France and South Africa NEED a win or else they are gone and they need Uraguay and Mexico not to tie either.

Group B: Argentina, South Korea, Greece, Nigeria. Argentina has 6 points, South Korea and Greece has 3 points, and Nigeria has 0. Greece plays Argentina while South Korea plays Nigeria. Nigeria really has basically no chance of moving on. It will play out to Argentina most defiantly in while the second team could either be South Korea or Greece.

Group C: United States, Algeria, England, Slovenia. Slovenia has 4 points, US and England have 2, and Algeria has 0. US plays Algeria while England plays Slovenia. US needs a win or a tie and England ties to get in. Algeria won’t move on but between US, England, and Slovenia, it could go anyway.

Group D: Ghana, Germany, Australia, Serbia. Ghana has 4 points, Germany has 3, Serbia has 3, and Australia has 1. Ghana plays Germany in a critical game while Australia plays Serbia in another critical game. Whoever moves on could go anyway as well.

Group E: Netherlands, Japan, Cameroon, Denmark. Netherlands has 6 points, Japan has 3, Denmark has 3, and Cameroon has 0. Cameroon plays the Netherlands while Denmark plays Japan. Netherlands will move on probably but Japan and Denmark will go down to the final outcome of their game. That is a huge game to see who will advance.

Group F: Paraguay, Italy, New Zealand, Slovakia. Paraguay has 4 points, while Italy, New Zealand, and Slovakia all have 1. New Zealand and Italy are playing right now and the score is tied at 1. This is a big game. Slovakia plays Italy and Paraguay plays New Zealand in their last game in group stage. It is no question that the Italians are struggling. More on the games today later.

Group G: Brazil, Ivory Coast, Portugal, North Korea. This is probably the best group. Brazil has 3 points, Portugal and Ivory Coast both have 1, and North Korea has 0. North Korea still has to play Portugal then Brazil plays Ivory Coast later today. Then Brazil plays Portugal and Ivory Coast plays North Korea. This group could go any way with this many games left.

Group H: Chile, Switzerland, Honduras, Spain. Chile and Switzerland have 3 while Honduras and Spain both have 0. This, like group G has more and more games left. This group can go any way as well.

-More on the World Cup and how it plays out today later.

It Was a Hoax

June 20, 2010

-As the RD world is extremely excited to add Zach Myers to the group of writers, I am sorry to report. It was indeed, just a hoax. He, like Jack was going to write, but just preferred being a reader. We will find someone to have as the 3rd writer. Just be patient all you millions of people, be patient.

Manute Bol, World Cup, and U.S. Open’s Saturday Notes

June 20, 2010

Manute Bol passed away today at the age of 47 because of an ongoing disease.  He was most remember for his outrageous height.  He played for 4 different NBA teams, mostly the Golden State Warriors, and was known for his height and nack for blocking shots.

Ghana and Australia tied today 1-1. Ghana is ZM’s favorite African team, and we all know that he would like to see them come out of their group.  They just need a draw or win in their next game.

– The Flying Dutchman [TFDM] of the Netherlands defeated the Japanese today 1-0.  Looks like those Japanese just couldn’t get their Iphone’s and high tech cars to work right this morning.

– Denmark beat Cameroon today 2-1, after many Cameroon shots on goal.  The Cameroonians proved to be the more athletic and talented team, they just couldn’t put their speed and talent at a level that would allow them to win the game.

Tiger recorded a 66 today, after a miraculous back nine.  He is now -1 in the tournament putting him 4 shots back at the moment.  This could set up for one of his huge comebacks on Sunday in a major championship.  Graeme Micky Micky Dowel is currently leading at 5 under par. Ryo Ishikawa from Japan is in 6th place currently at even.  That’s pronounced ROY.  I do believe that they misplaced the y and the o when naming him.

Zach Myers’ Friday Night Notes

June 19, 2010

He is no dunce when discussing the World Cup

-First off, we at RD would like to welcome Zach Myers on to the site. We are excited for his knowledge of the World Cup. He knows his stuff about the World Cup. The bad thing is that we are booting Jack Totty from the site. He does not like being a writer and he prefers being a ‘reader.’ We will not have many MLB notes except for the all-star game, trade deadline, and the playoffs. Give a warm welcome to Zach Myers.

– More FIFA notes after this as Zach’s first post.

-Lakers won. I know, it sucks.

-US Open enters the second round at Pebble Beach. Our guy BD knows that. Phil Micklesecond is in second place. No way.

The Terrific Thurman Thomas’ Thursday Tabu

June 17, 2010

– Because a poor internet connection and the fact that I had a guf, I mean GOLF tournament this morning in Louisville, I was not able to do a Wednesday Writing.  I’m going to make up for it with this unique Thursday Tabu.

– The U.S. Open starts today, and currently K.J. Choi is leading at -3.  Tiger Woods tees off a little after 4, so that will be interesting to see how he does.

Argentina destroyed K.J. Choi’s homeland of South Korea 4-1 in a major score fest.  Gonzalo Higuain had a hat trick, which supported the funny and entertaining own goal by Park-Chu Young.  His comrade and compatriot Lee Chu Young scored Korea’s only goal.

– Greece defeated Nigeria today 2-1, which is Greece’s only victory in the World Cup ever.  Zeus really looked over them today.

– This has nothing to do with Thurman Thomas, he was just the only person that I could think of that would fit on a Thursday Tabu.

– Kendrick Perkins is out for game 7 of the finals tonight because a knee injury. The crazy foreigner (Pau, yes Pau, not Paul, Gasol) should have his way tonight.  I’m hoping for a upset win tonight for the Celtics, although a former RD fan of the day would rather see Kobe not do work. Game time 9:00.

– In a bit of sad, and also weird news today, a South African man was beaten to death by his wife and kids because he wanted to watch the South African World Cup match instead of religious programming.  Who wouldn’t?  He told his family he wanted to watch soccer instead of the gospel program that they were watching. When he got up to change the channel, his 68 year old wife and 36 year old son beat him to death.  Now at RD let’s give his family a big “CMON people, its a TV.”

The Mountain West and Conference Changes

June 17, 2010

The Mountain West has 9 teams in it. Or had. Or will have. Gosh, this is confusing. Okay well Utah left the Mountain West to be the Pac 10’s 12th team. I know it does not make sense with the names. This is great for Utah. Finally they are in a power conference and can show their skills off. Now the Big 12 only has 10 teams in it. They NEED 12 or else it will just be stupid with the conference tournaments and other things like that they can easily pick up either TCU or BYU. That would be good. Only problem is that both would be in the Big 12 North and TCU is in the South. Now the Big 10 has 12 teams. Gah, just forget about it. Oh and the first line means that the MWC had 9 teams, then had 8 with Utah leaving, now has 9 again because Boise State is coming in 2011. Why are they coming in 2011 and not now? Because they need to have one more EXTREMELY EASY SCHEDULE, I mean,  set up everything and become organized.

John Wall on ESPN Magazine

June 17, 2010

John Wall will be on the cover of ESPN the Magazine. Yes, JR will have a new frame up in his room.

The Smurf’s Late Wednesday Night Notes

June 17, 2010

-First off, I would like to apologize for no Wacky Wednesday Writings. Much apologies.

-Still no word on JT coming to the site. No idea what is running through that fellas mind. Apparently he would rather be a “reader than a writer and that he has writers block.” Here at RD we can give him a good ole’ C’mon man, really?

-Now to the notes…

-Utah has joined the Pac 10, or now Pac 12. Wait what? No but really, this is pretty good for the Utah Utahians or Utes or what ever they are called over there .

-No big baseball news, or is there? Come on Tots.

-The Smurfs have a new movie coming out? Yeah it’s like animated and stuff. (Link seen below) The topic actually had to do with the Smurfs. LINK IS HERE BUT THAT VIDEO BELOW IS PRETTY FUNNY: http://movies.yahoo.com/premieres/20369066/standardformat

That is all for the notes. Game 7 tomorrow night. More on FIFA in next posts.

Traditional Tuesday Pics

June 15, 2010

Watch out… My picks might take a pic of you.

Before the picks lets get to some news shall we?

– An exciting game in Group G of the World Cup.  The Ivory Coast and Portugal tied 0-0.

Brazil beat the North Koreans 2-1, which means that the North Koreans did not set their nuclear missile to the right setting.

New Zealand tied Slovakia 1-1.

Now to the picks…

– I picked 4 correct this week, as the Blackhawks and Celtics won.  The Cavaliers did not find a coach, and Jack Totty said open 4 times last week.  It only rained two days in Winslow, Arizona this week, so I lost that.  Also, England and South Africa both tied their matches, so I lost those.

– I predict that the United States will beat Slovenia on Friday in its fixture in the pitch.  We all hear the slight echo of USA USA in the background.

– I will say that Argentina and South Korea will tie their match.  This one’s for U Yeong…

I will take the Lakers tonight in game 6 of the finals, but I will take Boston winning in 7 games, along with Brian Scalabrine not scoring a point.

– I will say that Tiger Woods will finish in the top 10 at Pebble Beach in the U.S. Open. If Jack reads this he will have said it 5 times.

– For the random picks… I will say that the West Indies will beat South Africa in the HUGE Cricket game next Tuesday.  I know our viewers will be waiting for that one.  Also, Pau Gasol will get a bloody nose in tonights game against the Celtics.

The Big 12’s Late Monday Night Notes

June 15, 2010

Will this be the new logo of the Big 12? But it is the Big 10? Your confusing me

– Well lets first start off with this. Sorry all you millions of viewers that we have not gotten any posts up lately. It is indeed summer, we are quite busy, we are sorry.

-JT will indeed make more posts. We have received a tun of inquires about JT and his advancement on RD Sports.

-Now, lets get to the notes. Shall we?

-It looks as though the Big 12 will remain and keep the Texas and Oklahoma teams. Colorado and Nebraska, are gone with the wind. Because frankly my dear, Colorado and Nebraska do not give a damn. (See video below). Well this leaves us with only 10 teams in the Big 12, and 12 teams in the Big 10! Thats so confusing! Yeah it is, they might change the names I don’t know, but the Big 12 should add two more teams like Utah, New Mexico, UNLV, TCU, ideally the Mountain West Conference. That would be a fantastic idea.

-Celts take game 5, take control of the series. Boom. Celts I believe will win in 7. Like my original prediction. The only bad thing is that they are probably going to win in L.A which won’t be fun for either teams or fans.

-World Cup Notes- Today’s games. Netherlands beat Denmark 2-0. Japan ousted Cameroon 1-0. Italy had a solemn tie with Paraguay at 1 all.

-Tomorrow the games will be- New Zealand vs Slovakia. Ivory Coast vs Portugal. Brazil vs North Korea. Maybe a new writer, Zach Myers (Picture below) will write about the World Cup with his expertise. He is a big Ivory Coast fan. He likes Drogba. Look for Portugal and that prick Ronaldo to take them down. We will have to see who wins and what BD’s traditional tuesday picks will be tomorrow.

-On a last note, Tayshaun Prince, fellow UK basketball player, now playing on the Detroit Pistons, team USA, and has won 1 or 2 championships in the NBA, might be traded. He could go to Sacramento for the #5 draft pick in order for Detroit to get their hands on Cousins or Derrick Favors.

What ever he is doing down there, I do not know, however he does know his stuff about the world cup.
